Yep, that’s right the Bumbo has been recalled. Why, you ask. Due to serious head injuries of course. Well, now just wait a minute. I know you want to know how a child’s seat caused head injuries. But let me say this first. It says right on the back of the seat, “WARNING†– “Never use on a raised surface. Never use as a car seat or bath seat. Designed for floor level use only. Never leave your baby unattended as the seat is not designed to be totally restrictive and may not prevent release of your baby in the event of vigorous movement.â€. Ok? Ok.
Well the Bumbo is being recalled due to children flipping backwards out of the seats and landing on their heads, because someone didn’t follow the directions. So if you own a Bumbo you can contact Bumbo International at (877)932-8626 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday or visit their web site at www.BumboSafety.com to get an updated warning label and instructional leaflet. In the mean time all Bumbo seats have been pulled from teh shelves until the packaging can me reproduced.
In the mean time if you have a Bumbo please do not put it on the table or counter or in the tub and then WALK AWAY. We all know that as parents we use it in these places. Come on, admit it already. Just be smart about it.
And if you don’t know what a Bumbo is , where have you been for the last two years?
But you can go here, or here to get more information on what happened and when. Notice the date of September 19, 2007 and the fact thet the child was on top of a table. The mom was probably in the room but not right there next to him. I’m sure there will be a law suit if one hasn’t started already, but who’s really to blame. In my opinion it’s the parents. I think that if the parents can sue Bumbo than the state should be able to pursue child endangerment charges. But that’s just my opinion.
