    Call Me Freckles

    September 20, 2008

    You Can Call Me Freckles

I love my freckles, really I do. Even when I was in jr and sr high I never wanted to cover them. They give me color, character, and hide some of the redness.

I have to tell my girls to at least once a week to embrace the freckles. There is no fighting them. Even with a SPF 70 sunscreen the freckles appear, sometimes daily. Hopefully they will.

Here is my proof that there is no escaping them.

Also, please note the pride in SuperChic’s eyes. She has lost four teeth in less than two weeks. The bottom two were lost Tuesday, 9/9, and Thursday 9/11, I think. the two top ones we pulled this morning.

Here’s a hint on an easier way to get a loose tooth out. Tie dental floss around the top of the tooth, make sure you knot it. Give the kid a Popsicle, to numb it up, and give it a little tug. Her tooth came out on the second or third tug. And I mean a little tug, nothing really hard. (The Popsicle also helps to keep the tooth from bleeding, a plus in my book).

    Auction for Carol

    September 9, 2008

I received an email a couple of days ago asking if I would be willing to donate an apron for auction to help out a fellow blogger.

After reading about what happened it only seemed right.

Carol had some major complications during labor back in June and has since had limbs amputated, skin grafts, and lost her vision. You can read more of what happened on the side blog here at the top of the page.

I donated one of the two lemon half aprons (“Carol”) in my stock. You can bid on it here. The auction ends Monday, September 15th.

There are lots of other items to bid on too. Go check it out.

    I Must Be 80

    September 4, 2008

Today I went to the dentist for a consultation about a root canal. (Yes, I know that he is not just a dentist, but I don’t feel like getting the card so I can spell out what he is.) It started out normal. Take and x-ray, look at the tooth, poke at the tooth, talk about the tooth.

This is when the program deviated from it’s regularly scheduled programing. He broke out the q-tip with the pink goop on it. I quickly asked if he planned on doing the procedure today, he smiled, and said of course, that is what they scheduled you for.

Panic set in. This is not what I had planned. Shawn was supposed to be here with me, not in Colorado. I quickly decided that since I was already there and didn’t have time to get worked-up about it, to go for it.

Let’s just say that he used a whole lot of pain killer on me. My tooth was so decayed that the filling I got in ‘01 or ‘02 was actually floating in the tooth. I’m lucky that when a piece fell out the day of BB’s party here in the Sticks, that I didn’t get and stay sick.

Two hours later, lots of drilling and poking had gone on, and I was completely relaxed. I actually came out more relaxed than when I went in.

So now I get to eat things like this for dinner, and lunch, and breakfast.

    I think I'm 80

That would be an egg salad sandwich, cut into 16 pieces. Which were still to big for me to eat in one bite. I must be 80.
