Tonight we had one last hurrah to celebrate Fall and family. It was a lot of fun.
SAJ was a little frzzled when we got there, but then an almost three year old yelling, “MOMMY< I NEEEEEEEEEEEEED YOU!!!” over and over again can do that to you. Apparently when Shawn and I arrived she calmed down a bit, SAJ said it must have been because the adult/child ratio was in balance. Whatever it was, she was glad for the extra hands to handle the kid.
SAJ planned a great dinner. Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, yams (NOT candied), green beans, salad, olives, bell peppers, crescent rolls, cranberry relish, and stuffing. I’m pretty sure that was everything. It was all super yummy, but I’m very glad we don’t eat that way everyday. I think I’d be sick.
While I didn’t overindulge at dinner, dessert was enough to put me over the top. Brenda made apple pie, which got sighs of approval from all who ate it. I am sorry to say that I am not an apple pie person. I love the smell of the pie baking. but I don’t really care for the way it tastes.
I provided my standard Holiday dessert. Cheesecake. And not just one cheesecake, but two. A pumpkin cheesecake and a chocolate peppermint cheesecake, or a peppermint chocolate cheesecake. The pumpkin cheesecake is mild and yummy and you can easily eat a whole slice, but not the chocolate one. The chocolate one would make Donald Trump look poor. Paired with a good cup of coffee it was a great way to start an evening filled with giggles, games, and coloring.
