    Day 1 Easter 2008

    March 15, 2008

Today was a whole load of fun.

We started by shopping for jellybeans for the cake we will make tomorrow.

Then we came home had lunch, with more cheetos than sandwich, and a caffine free diet coke, or should I say a double diet coke, as Rapunzel puts it.

Then we made Race Car Bunnies, played in the snow, ate a teeny tiny bit of candy, and had corned beef and cabbage for dinner.

As my mom and I cleaned up the kitchen, SuperChic drfited into the tv room to sit with Papa. A few minutes later my mom’s cell phone rings, it’s my dad, calling from the tv room. I know it sounds funny, but it’s better than yelling for her. It’s like a personal paging device. Anyways, I wandered a bit there. My dad called to say that SuperChic crawled in his lap and died. Translation, she’s asleep and cruching me, please get teh camera, take a picture, and move her.

    So of course we obliged.

Tomorrow I will upload more photos. The only ones we uploaded to my parents computer were ones that thye would want also.

Not to leave you with another non-photo post you can go here to see Day 1 of our “Easter.”

And just for you, here is a photo I found on teh computer, probably scanned in a few weeks ago. A major blast from the past, and you’ll get to see where I get my curliness from.

Lost in Thought - Day 7

    March 8, 2008

Today was whirlwind of activity. I actually managed to get both girls to school on time, go to an appointment at the welfare office, get gas in the car, wash three loads of laundry, dry two, fold none, pack a suitcase, IM Shawn, pack a lunch/snack, forget drinks, leave town only five minutes later than planned, head out of town in wrong direction, twice, get almost all the way to SAJ’s, then get off the freeway at the wrong exit. There are two exits with the same name, I’m supposed to take the second. I know this, and have done this many times, yet today I didn’t even realize it until I was committed.

So I decide to go surface, with only the vaguest idea of where I am. The street will eventually get me to the beach, if I’m heading in the right direction. Did I mention I have a bad sense of direction? Or should I say NO sense of direction. I eventually end up at the airport. Slightly helpful, but I’m still not worried. I know WHERE I am, it’s that I’m only 10% sure that WHERE I’m going is right. I look for a street I recognize, turn left then think, great, I turned into a business area, now I’ll never get out. So I call Ladybug at SAJ’s and make sure I’m heading in the right direction. Then bam, I see another street I know. I hang a right, tell her where I’m at, she says to look for the toll-road, which at this point is still free, and instead I see the street I was originally on. I was very happy. (I know it sounds weird but a lot of the streets run on a diagonal. So a lot of times you turn off one street only to turn back onto it again later.)

Not having enough time to get into the turn lane, I go straight, turn on the first street, drive around the block, and come out on the street I was trying to get on. Whoo-Hooo!!!! I made it.

Shawn was very proud. Yes, I called my husband to say I got off on the wrong exit, and found my own way back going surface, where I have never driven before. It’s probably been two years since I’ve even been that way. It’s a good thing I pay attention when other people drive. For me this is like a minor miracle.

When we arrive at SAJ’s in one piece and too late, traffic was really bad, the girls are ecstatic. Not only do they get to see BB, but Grandma too. BB had to wait until Grandma had her hugs before the girls paid any attention to her. Then for SuperChic it was all BB all the time. They do everything together. Even go potty.

Though it is a little disconcerting when you have a two and five year old in the bathroom with the door closed and you hear the shower door open. When I opened the door to check, BB looked at me like, Auntie what’s wrong with you, we’re just going potty, sheesh.

After the potty was dinner, and cookie decorating, and general goofing around.

(Did I mention that in the middle of dinner BB walked up to me and said, “Auntie Hedder, I go poop in the potty.” Meaning, I need a clean diaper. I have no idea why she told me, but I don’t have an aversion to poop, so off to the bedroom we went. Apparently she remembered that I can change her diaper just like her Mommy can. Not that you needed that little tidbit.)

So cookie decorating commenced and there was a lot of fun ahead for the girls. While Rapunzel iced and decorated, SuperChic and BB ambushed me in her bedroom. There was a lot of icing, a lot of sprinkles, a lot of squeals, and a lot of fun.

Rapunzel even made mini cookies just for Grandma. So, “she can have three a day and not have to much sugar. But she can’t have the first one until AFTER breakfast. So make sure she has breakfast first, ok.”

Tomorrow I know we’ll be spending a little time on the beach, but other than that who knows what the day will have in store for us.

To see more of the fun go here. Warning - there is no editing.

    Mending Day 6

    March 6, 2008

    Mending - Day 6” alt=”" />

This was presented to me last Friday by SuperChic.

She brought it home with her from school on Friday insisting that I mend it for Jesslyn.
“Mommy, Jesslyn wanted you to sew this for her.”
“I don’t think Jesslyn wanted you to take her bear home, Baby.”
“Yes, she said she needed it fixed and her Grandma doesn’t have a machine.”
“This doesn’t get fixed on a machine, you have to fix it by hand.”
“Oh, well, can you fix it for her?”
“Sure, put it on the piano bench.”

So of course it was forgotten until tonight, when Rapunzel presented me with “Chester,” Hali’s “new” baby. Apparently he wasn’t put together very well since she’s only had him since last Friday and his hand was falling off. For a dog she takes very good care of her baby. It may be muddy and wet, but it’s years before she wears it out.

That reminded me of Jesslyn’s blue teddy lying on the piano bench, face down, his back open to the world.

As I sat in the chair mending him, I have no idea if it’s a him or her, I started thinking. Was SuperChic having me mend Jesslyn’s bear in hopes that it would mend their friendship? Did she think this would make Jesslyn like her more? Make her stop picking on her, bossing her around, telling her she doesn’t like whatever it is SuperChic is telling her about or showing her?

The answer is probably. And it’s sad. There’s nothing SuperChic can do to make Jesslyn like her. SuperChic says Jesslyn is her best friend, but that Jesslyn doesn’t like her.

Almost everyday I hear I can’t wear that Jesslyn didn’t like it, Jesslyn says it’s ugly, Jesslyn says…, you get the idea. Jesslyn is the kindergarten bully. Well she’s the girl one, there’s a boy too but that’s another story.

Luckily there’s only a few months to go and Jesslyn won’t be around anymore. Next year she’ll be in first grade and SuperChic will be in Kindergarten. Yes, she is going to repeat. We knew this at the start of the school year. And unless she just takes off all of a sudden we plan on her repeating.

She’ll start knowing a little more and there will be new faces to see, new friends to make, and no Jesslyn. SuperChic is so opinionated about everything it’s hard to see her get upset that Jesslyn doesn’t like something. Or as Jesslyn puts it, “everyone thinks it’s ugly.” So SuperChic thinks that no one likes it, including the teacher.

I’ve read this book to her, and she understands what it means. We talk about it every time this problem occurs, but so far it’s not helping.

That’s why this not quite in focus is my Tiny Moment.
