    Surprise Packages

    April 10, 2008

    are the best kind.

In the middle of cleaning up the screen porch so Rapunzel can have her own “room” to sleep in we sent SuperChic out to get the mail. Which of course meant that Rapunzel had to go and help her close the gate.

Rapunzel came running back in the house, “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!!!! We got a package for ALL of the girls in the house!”

Looking at the package from across the room I knew it wasn’t from my Mom, or from SAJ. I admit, my curiosity was peaked. I washed the strawberries off my hands and kept trying to read the package upside down from across the room. It wasn’t working. As soon as I was close enough, I recognized the handwriting as BethanyActually’s. I squealed with delight.

Photo stolen from BethanyActually's Flickr feed.
Photo filched from Bethany’s Flickr stream.

I knew exactly what was in the package. Who knew that someone could get so excited about headbands. I certainly didn’t.

Apparently when I mentioned to SAJ that I really liked the headband that Bethany made for her, she passed it on, and asked Bethany to make some for all of us.

They are perfect. The colors are exactly what we all wear. But most importantly, they are comfortable, and they stay in your hair/on your head.

I have always loved headbands, but not the headache that went along with them. Now I have two gorgeous headbands and no headache. So if you want a headband of your own, check out her Etsy shop.

    Thank you Bethany!!!

    Countdown

    November 27, 2007

The countdown to Christmas break and Christmas day has officially begun.

All the kids made a chain calendar to count down to Christmas Eve. I only took a few photos and none of them wee good enough to post.

I have three more projects for them to do. One for each week before Christmas. We will be making reindeer, snowmen, and Christmas trees.

And I made my Christmas cards today. Tomorrow I’m going to try to finish BB’s dress. I need to make the overskirt, sleeves, and cape.

    CinderSuperChic, the Party

    November 20, 2007

Well as I’m sure you’ve all figured out from SAJ, today was SuperChic’s 5th birthday party. Though her birthday is actually Thursday. She’s my not-so-little-any-more turkey baby.

Today went amazingly well, aside from having all three neighborhood kids here all day long. I thought that they were only going to be here for a little while go home, across the street, and come back at three. Nope, of course not. It wouldn’t be Camp Chaos if everything went according to plan. But at least I didn’t have JJ today on top of everything else.

This morning started with a run to Stater’s to buy butter to make the frosting for the cake and buy ice cream. Of course I forgot the ice cream. Then it was to Starbuks, all the way across the parking lot, for an eggnog latte, pumpkin spice latte (which I finished at about 4:00pm), vanilla sf latte, mocha, peppermint cream based frapp, and hot chocolate. Poof another twenty bucks gone with the wind. But it was so worth it. I nursed that baby all day long. (And it was a good thing to, because around dinner time I realized that a cup of coffee and a piece of cake do not a meal make.)

What got us through the day

The party was great. The kids had a great time. SuperChic truly felt like a princess. Between the fairy lighhts strewn about the room, the coach cake, pin the tiara on the princess, freeze frame, and crown making I don’t know that anything could have made a better party. The parents were commenting that the decorations were great and that the cake looked great, but to me I just saw a sloppy cake and toned down decorations.

    Decorating her crown

When it comes to parties we always tend to overdo. Everything was toned down tonight, but no one else noticed. I guess what really matters is that SuperChic felt like a princess.

I will post about the cake later. All I’ll say is that SuperChic stopped me and said, “Mommy, you can stop putting that on now. It looks good, I think you should be done.”

Here are some of the photos that we took. I will attempt to post more tomorrow, including the second round of happy birthday and present opening we saved just for Daddy.

    Cupcakes!!!

    November 10, 2007

Once again I have not been able to work on part two of the story.

Instead, I slept in until about 9:30, made breakfast and 10:30, and headed over to mom’s at 12:30 to hang out with SAJ, Bethany Actually, and the kids.

I had the bright idea of making cupcakes and letting the kids decorate them. The kids had a great time, and the adults had fun watching them, but I don’t know if SAJ and Bethany really wanted that much sugar in their kids. I think they ate more toppings than actual cupcake. Though that’s where most of the sugar is.

Oh, well. I had fun. I hope it wasn’t to much for the rest of them.
