    Goal Achieved

    April 24, 2008

OK. I know it’s been forever and a day. I seem to be doing a whole lot of nothing lately. Well, I shouldn’t say that. I’ve been doing a lot of procrastinating and planning, and other variables of the same thing.

First off, I want to thank everyone who supported the girls in the Viking Run. Rapunzel and SuperChic both met their goals. Rapunzel actually met both of her goals. (Rapunzel’s ultimate goal was to reach $100, which she did, with a little extra help form Auntie and Uncle Toby.)

The girls earned a combined total of $180. I wish you could have seen their faces when they realized that they achieved their goals. There was lots of jumping and squealing and bounciness going on.

Thank you Bethany, Bethany, Carrie, Auntie, Shawna, Grandma, Grandma, Papa, and Daddy.

    Viking Run 2008 *Update*

    April 3, 2008

The Viking Run was a success.

SuperChic completed 19 laps, the average for Kindergarten and First grade is 15 laps. She completely outdid herself, as Grandma put it.

    19 for SuperChic” alt=”" />

Rapunzel completed 22 laps, with an average of 21 for 4th and 5th graders.

    Rapunzel did 22” alt=”" />

While Rapunzel was disappointed to fall short of her goal, which is ultimately to do more than she did the previous year, she had a good time. So she ran with Maddy and SuperChic when it was their turn to run, even though she gets no credit for it. So she probably did about 30 laps altogether.

I missed Rapunzel’s run because I was in a meeting with the teacher and vice-principal. SuperChic will be repeating kindergarten next year, and she is not being suspended over the knife incident. Which the vp pointed out that had it been turned in to the admin like it was supposed to be she would have been suspended immediately. They also agree that seeking an anger management/counselor/therapist for her would be beneficial, I mentioned we were looking into it, they support the idea.

By the time I made it outside Rapunzel was chomping away at her bigstick and goofing off like the rest of the kids. The second graders came out and we went over to cheer Maddy on. I ran a few laps with her and so did Rapunzel.

We went home uploaded the cameras and went back at 1:45 to watch SuperChic. Where I ran some more and gave myself very sore shins, but it was worth it. SuperChic was so happy to have us there, and especially to have us run with her. Though she did try to get me to run while carrying her a few times. I told her that that was cheating and the lap wouldn’t count, and that I wasn’t going to do it. She stopped asking.

They all were awarded “medals” for running, and they are all VERY proud of them.

Though this is what totally made my day.

To all of you who have pledged thank you VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY much!!! It meant so much to the girls. Once we have it all tallied up I will send some linky love your way.

    Viking Run 2008

    April 2, 2008

Rapunzel and SuperChic are both participating in the school’s Viking Run this year.

They use this event to raise money for field trips, classroom supplies, assemblies, playground and safety equipment.

Each lap is 110 yards. The students have 20 minutes to do as many laps as they can.

Last year Rapunzel did 22 laps. This year her goal is 25.

We have no idea how many SuperChic will do. Hopefully she’ll complete at least a few.

Each of the girls are hoping to earn a t-shirt, which requires a minimum of $30 in donations. There are other prizes that can be won in a raffle, but we don’t talk about those. All they care about is the t-shirt, which is worn proudly all year long.

With both kids running this year we are unable to pledge as much as previous years. I am asking if any of you can pledge any amount to help the girls reach their goals. All pledges are to be turned in on April 23, 2008. You can pledge a flat amount, or a “per lap” amount.

Tomorrow I will post how many laps each girl has done.

You can pledge via PayPal comfortablycrazy at msn dot com. Just add who the pledge is for in the comment section.

    Thanks!

Give Me My Bear or Else

    March 19, 2008

SuperChic pulled a good one at school today. She freaked out her teacher by pulling a pocket knife out of her backpack. Yes, I said a pocket knife.

Ok. Calm down, don’t get all, you should pay more attention to your kids, I can’t believe you even left that in reach, on me.

It was a swiss army knife attached to a set of keys hanging on the hook by the front door. A set of keys I touch maybe once every six months. So them not being there, I wouldn’t have noticed for a long time.

She took them to school, for I don’t know what reason, she just thought they were a set of play keys, I guess. She couldn’t get the knife open. I couldn’t get the knife open. She also took her glow in the dark care bear.

The teacher apparently was a little shocked when she saw the knife on the keyring. I don’t really know what she said or did. I’ll find out tomorrow when I go get it from the school. I do know she took it off the keyring and the gave the keys back to SuperChic, and told Rapunzel to tell me that I had to come and get it, because knives aren’t allowed on campus. DUH.

Maybe she thought SuperChic had had enough of Jesselyn picking on her. Maybe today was going to be the day she stood up for herself. You know, kinda like this:

“Jesselyn, give me back my Care Bear.”
    “No.”
“Give me back my bear or…or…or… I’ll stab you!”
    “No.”
    Stab-stab-stab.

I can totally see that happening, can’t you?

SuperChic and I had a little talk. And I mean little, literally. I said you don’t take knives to school, and she said ok. I don’t think anything more needs to be said or done.

And honestly, we have enough pocket knives around that if she did take off with one, I’d probably never notice. But she couldn’t get them open.
