    We Have A Winner!!!

    June 16, 2008

First, thank you to everyone who entered the contest.

Second, since I have two girls and they both responded, “ME!!!!!”, when I asked who wanted to pick the winner, we chose two names. Rapunzel drew the winner and SuperChic the runner up.

Oh, well, I guess that means that I should tell you who the winners are, huh?

In true OMSH style we drew pieces of paper out of a basket.

    Waiting

    Picking

The suspense was killing us. So of course she had to read it herself.

    Reading

When I finally said show it to me already, she turned it around, and we all cracked up.

    Finally Showing Me

Because, yes, it does say BethanyActually. My first thought was, “maybe I can hand deliver this one.” And I promise, there was no fishing. I put them in the basket, Sue mixed them up and handed the basket to Rapunzel. Then Rapunzel waited for me to take a few photos before she could draw a winner. It was all very low key, and very fun.

    Winner!

Now, about the runner-up. I haven’t determined what the prize will be yet, but I promise it will be figured out by the end of today. So, here it is. Just for your viewing pleasure. (I sound like a commercial, don’t I?)

    Runner-Up

So, CityStreams, while I don’t know what the prize will be, I hope you like it.

I just need both of you to to email me your info.

    Reminder

    June 14, 2008

Don’t forget to comment here for the drawing to win Lisa, who is now complete and much happier. Comments end tomorrow at midnight, or if I forget to close them, Monday morning.

In other news 1 1/2 other aprons are complete, and *fingers crossed* will be up in my shop tomorrow afternoon.

    Aprons

    June 9, 2008

Ok, first, I want to thank everyone for the comments that they left over here.

I am very happy with this apron and plan on making more. I have one almost complete, but I am not as happy with it. The stitching does not look nearly as nice as and it really bothers me.

I am using a different machine and it is not cooperating. Tomorrow I am going to bring in my machine and see if it is any better. If it isn’t Shawn has ok’d me to get a new machine, but I will have to wait until next week to get it most likely.

For now I have plans to make coordinating aprons for the kids, butchers aprons for the kids, more half aprons, and full aprons for adults. I do have the pattern for an art smock for the kids but I don’t have the material for it yet. I am looking for an oil-cloth or flannel backed plastic for it so that paint and other such things don’t leak through.

So in the mean time I am going to start the giveaway tonight. It will run until Sunday, June 15th at midnight. The winner will be drawn sometime Monday, OMSH style. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment here. International shipping isn’t a problem, so feel free to enter.

I am going to give away Lisa, the apron I am currently working on. Lisa is made from the same material as the pockets and waistband on June, with green bias around the pockets and bottom.

Lisa is named after Eva Gabor’s character in Green Acres. While not perfect, she still gets the job done (in her own way) and looks good doing it.

And yes, I am naming the aprons after tv mom’s and wives. June was named for June Cleaver. I am naming them after I make them. I have a Lucy in my head, but haven’t found her yet, but as soon as I do you’ll be the first to know. So check back in a few days and hopefully I’ll have another one done.

    Bonus Post

    May 21, 2008

Shawn told me to go get material to make dresses and list them in my ETSY shop!

I will make them in the satiny materials and in cotton. Mostly because $3-5 a yard is cheaper than $6-10 a yard, and not everyone wants to pay an arm and a leg for a kids costume.

It will be a few weeks yet as I have a few projects already lined up, but I am very excited. I also have a few other things up my sleeve to put in my shop.

As soon as I get the first one finished I will have a giveaway. I am giving myself a deadline of May 31, 2008. *crossing fingers* The giveaway will open on June 1, 2008. But I need some help first.

I don’t know how to determine a winner. Should I just have everyone leave a comment and then use a randomizer or draw a name from a bucket? Maybe I should have you help me finish this.

I am completely stumped as how to keep going with it. I stopped writing that night because I was very tired. That was a very big mistake. I have tried and tried and I just can’t get it to sound right.

So what do you think I should do?
