    Day 1

    March 1, 2008

I just joined the 30 Tiny Moments group over on Flickr.

It’s not as if I don’t have enough to do, but I’m going to view it as therapy. I need to capture the everyday and then write about it. I think every month, well maybe every other month, should be a NaBloPoMo month for me. A daily commitment to write something, anything. Even if, or should I say especially if, it is complete nonsense that no one but me will understand.

It is also going to keep Shawn in the loop.

So here is today’s moment, or I guess it would be yesterday’s technically.

I will admit that I helped pick out her outfit, but the accessories were her own choices. This photo completely captures her attitude. You can just feel the purposefulness of her stride. This girl loves to accessorize, go to Starbucks, and then shop. It doesn’t matter that her purse only carries an empty Target gift card and a Pez dispenser or that her cup is just left over ice from Grandma’s green tea. She was on a mission and no one was going to stop her. To top it all off I had to address her as “Mommy” and ask for permission to take her photo. She would reply, “just one, daughter.” Then as I took multiple photos she would roll her eyes and threaten to swat me. She even followed through on her threat. This is just one of the few quirks that make SuperChic, well, SuperChic.

Her necklace and purse were both purchased at Claire’s 10 for 10 sale.

New shoes that she adores, bought by Grandma. I thought it was cute that they sat in their favorite color chair, which happened to line them up like the Three Little Bears.

    CinderSuperChic, the Party

    November 20, 2007

Well as I’m sure you’ve all figured out from SAJ, today was SuperChic’s 5th birthday party. Though her birthday is actually Thursday. She’s my not-so-little-any-more turkey baby.

Today went amazingly well, aside from having all three neighborhood kids here all day long. I thought that they were only going to be here for a little while go home, across the street, and come back at three. Nope, of course not. It wouldn’t be Camp Chaos if everything went according to plan. But at least I didn’t have JJ today on top of everything else.

This morning started with a run to Stater’s to buy butter to make the frosting for the cake and buy ice cream. Of course I forgot the ice cream. Then it was to Starbuks, all the way across the parking lot, for an eggnog latte, pumpkin spice latte (which I finished at about 4:00pm), vanilla sf latte, mocha, peppermint cream based frapp, and hot chocolate. Poof another twenty bucks gone with the wind. But it was so worth it. I nursed that baby all day long. (And it was a good thing to, because around dinner time I realized that a cup of coffee and a piece of cake do not a meal make.)

What got us through the day

The party was great. The kids had a great time. SuperChic truly felt like a princess. Between the fairy lighhts strewn about the room, the coach cake, pin the tiara on the princess, freeze frame, and crown making I don’t know that anything could have made a better party. The parents were commenting that the decorations were great and that the cake looked great, but to me I just saw a sloppy cake and toned down decorations.

    Decorating her crown

When it comes to parties we always tend to overdo. Everything was toned down tonight, but no one else noticed. I guess what really matters is that SuperChic felt like a princess.

I will post about the cake later. All I’ll say is that SuperChic stopped me and said, “Mommy, you can stop putting that on now. It looks good, I think you should be done.”

Here are some of the photos that we took. I will attempt to post more tomorrow, including the second round of happy birthday and present opening we saved just for Daddy.

    The Super Chic SuperChic

    November 15, 2007

Can you guess what we did yesterday? No. Come on guess, it’ll be fun…….Fine. Just scroll down and find out. You know, you’re taking all the fun out of my big reveal.

    Waiting

Yesterday we took SuperChic to get her hair cut also. She was very excited. She asked every girl who walked past her if they were going to cut her hair. She was so anxious to get started already.
    This is my kissy face

She was very clear in what she wanted, and enjoyed making faces in the mirror. So many faces that her hair turned out different than what I had asked for.
    After

But she loves it. Can you tell? Now my little imp looks like a little imp.

More of the process here. I’ll try to get a better photo of the actual cut later today and put them up. She was to excited about her new haircut to stand still long enough for me to get a decent photo. She especially loves that her hair doesn’t get into her mouth when she eats.

    Halloween

    November 2, 2007

Halloween was so much fun this year. Not that we don’t have fun every year. But this year we got to go with BB and Wito too.

We started out at the mall, but that was a bust. Go figure that they changed the policy this year.

So instead we hit the neighborhood and had a blast. After making the rounds with Whoorl and Wito we headed back to SAJ’s hitting every house along the way.

    Don't forget BB

Once back at SAJ’s the girls and I set out on our own. We crossed PCH and hit up the houses closer to the beach. It was great except for the utter darkness. There are no street lights and there wasn’t much of a moon. Actually I don’t remember seeing the moon at all.

SuperChic tired out after three or four more blocks and Papa had to come get her. I sent her back with about 6 pieces of candy and permission to eat all of it if she ate her dinner. I was told she ate two bites of dinner than went to bed. Candy-schmandy she just wanted Mommy.

At this point Rapunzel was getting a little spooked in all the darkness but no where ready to call it quits. She was getting handfuls of candy from every house. And we were repeatedly told you’re only the second, third, fourth person we’ve had all night. Here take some more.

Do you know what that means? It means we have an entire backpack full of candy. How much candy does it take to fill up a backpack? Fifteen pounds of candy. Yes, you read that right I said fifteen pounds of candy.

It’s even good candy. No funky mints and hard candy that no one likes. Lots of chocolate bars, pretzels, peanut butter (which SuperChic constantly tried to take out of her princess pumpkin all night long.), tootsie rolls, gummy food, and more.

    Shark Boy

Of course being the fair mommy that I am I divided all the candy equally. I started by removing all the peanut butter from SuperChic’s bag and setting it aside for Daddy. Next I removed Rapunzel’s peanut butter stuff and set it aside. Finally we combine all the candy and sort it by type. All the candy was equally divided and anything left over was set aside for SuperChic to look over. SuperChic gets one piece out of the surplus for every piece of Rapunzel’s peanut butter candy. Then if they have something they don’t want they can trade between themselves.

The good thing about this much candy is I can put some of it aside and use it for Christmas stocking stuffers.
