    little of this and that

    February 20, 2008

Well things have progressed a little in the last week. We have more of our stuff in the garage, and more stuff at the pink house to get out.

It is slow going and having a rainy day doesn’t help things much. But eventually we’ll get everything out. Hopefully it will be soon or I’ll be moving it myself. Which I can do if I have to.

I don’t know how long we’ll be living in the garage. It’ll probably be for at least a few months though. Shawn leaves next week for Nebraska.

His departure date has been moved up from Friday to Wednesday. The girls and I aren’t to excited about him leaving, and for that fact neither is he. But the sooner he leaves the sooner he comes back, right? Rapunzel cries every time he gets a call about leaving. SuperChic doesn’t really understand what is happening. Though once he actually leaves on the truck and isn’t back before bedtime, she’ll get it.

The job hunt is still on. I never heard back from Citi-Bank. The next application is going in at our local Ace Hardware. I don’t know if they’re hiring, I also don’t care. They aren’t open past 7pm, they are within 2-miles of Ladybug’s, and part-time shouldn’t be to hard to get. They also have a cashier who is very pregnant. Hopefully that’ll mean an opening, even if it is only for a few months.

I am also going down to the local welfare office again. This time I am only applying for food stamps and Medi-Cal. By not asking for cash assistance I don’t have to work 32 hours a week, or go through their GAIN program for 32 hours a week, or jump through the 50 bazillion other little hoops they want me to jump through. It is also only temporary but right now we need the help. I can even tell them that I’m homeless, because technically we are. I’m not going to though, it won’t make a difference as far as the benefits go.

So now onto the next subject. Clearance stuff. I bought:

    1. 6 pairs of dress up gloves - $1.50 - were $1 each
    2. 2 books for BB - $.50 - were $1 each
    3. 1 pack of six mini-pens - $.50 - was $1
    4. 2 yoga mats - $1.24 - were $2.50 each
    5. 6 pairs of mittens - $1.11 - were $1.49 for each 2-pack
    6. 1 broken clear pitcher - $.25 (returned) Yes, I returned it and got my 27 cents back. - was $1
    7. 1 not broken green pitcher - $1.00 (different purchase) -original price

So, counting the green pitcher (but not the clear one) I spent, $5.85 before tax. All of it, except the mittens was out of Target’s $1 section. And seeing that we are forever loosing my mittens and gloves because little people like to use them too, can always use more pens and dress up gloves, BB needs books for her upcoming trip, and what’s better than lift the flap books with a message, now SuperChic has a pitcher she can pour without it being too heavy for her, and I have no reason other than my own laziness not to start using the Pilates dvd I bought before we moved back to California. The dvd actually works, my mom is proof.

But here was my favorite purchase. Galoshes, rain boots, whatever you call them. No more wet feet for me.

    Happy 2008

Well, apparently I fell off the wagon. I managed to blog one whole time in the month of December.

And it wasn’t for lack of trying. I actually started a few posts, but never managed to finish them. Add a whole week in the High Desert, where I have full internet access and a computer that won’t allow WP to work no matter what I do, and the month goes poof.

Christmas was spent with my parents, brother, and grandmother in the High Desert. New years was spent at SAJ’s san SAJ and BB.

All in all the holidays went well.

    The Best gift ever 2

The girls got just about everything they wanted, wait, scratch that, with the addition of $25 cash EACH, they did get everything they wanted. I got new pj’s, slippers, cd’s and Meet the Robinsons. Shawn got pants, pj’s a new front pocket wallet, a Brooks and Dunn cd, Pirates 3, the new Die Hard, and Fantastic 4 and the Silver Surfer. Everyone was happy.

    New Music

For those of you checking out Flickr, I apologize for the lack of photos from Christmas, my brother took all the photos and I just haven’t uploaded from the disk to the computer yet. But there will be more coming.

The good news is that after getting about 10 decent shots of Rapunzel all last year, I think we made up for it today.

Not to mention the worlds most awesome sunset. We stayed until it was gone and you could no longer see Catalina.

    Still Nothing

    August 14, 2007

We still have no phone service at home, let alone internet access. So I feel like I’m in la la land right now. I can’t focus on anything. I’m trying to upload pictures, print applications, write a post, and catch up on the blogs I read and Flickr!. It’s just too much to do all at once and still have coherent thoughts. So instead of actually writing I’m just going to make a list.

Today started off badly and then got worse because,

    1. I woke up with a headache
    2. SuperChic had to have her kindergarten physical, immunizations, and a tb test, which took 2 hours
    3. We spent an hour at McDonald’s
    4. Two hours at the school district getting her registered
    5. Then another hour at the welfare office (yes, I know it’s not called that anymore, but I don’t care), to get two appointments that mean Shawn has to miss work.
    6. SuperChic cried most of the time because her arms hurt.

In other news, we’re anxiously awaiting kittens. Button is not so happy though.

    Go away

And here are some pictures that I’ve taken in the last month, not all of them are pretty though.

    Home Again

    July 2, 2007

Well we made it back, again. I got home from our first trip to SAJ’s at about 10pm Friday night only to go back Saturday and come home again on Sunday.

The girls and I are all completely exhausted, I think we spent to much time in the sun. And to top it all off were having temperatures of 105 or higher this week with expected high humidity. Yeck.  That means the girls have to be in the house by 11am. That’s not such a good thing.

I think we’ll bake some cookies or something to keep them occupied.  Hopefully they won’t drive me to crazy.
